At the core of the M&M Academy, you'll find Daniel Alter and Ben Robinson, two accomplished and dedicated educators with a shared passion for teaching. Both are currently grade 11 music majors at Etobicoke School of the Arts.
Meet the Founders
Daniel Alter
Meet Daniel Alter, a pianist who embarked on his musical journey at the age of 2. His early passion for music led to remarkable accomplishments, including numerous local, provincial, national, and international awards. Daniel also had the opportunity to perform at extraordinary venues, including two unforgettable performances at Carnegie Hall in New York when he was just nine and ten years old. He's also an alumnus of the esteemed Taylor Performance Academy at the Royal Conservatory of Music and is currently preparing for his ARCT piano exam. In addition to his achievements, Daniel is dedicated to sharing his love of music with others. During the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, he devoted his time to teaching music to young students, helping them discover the joy of playing and facilitating their developing talents. Daniel has also taken up the violin and is an active member of various orchestras, both within his school and in the wider community. The rich musical background in Daniel's family includes his brother, who is currently studying piano at the renowned Glenn Gould School. Daniel's commitment to both music and teaching makes him a driving force behind the M&M Academy for Young Learners.
Ben Robinson
Meet Ben Robinson, an enthusiastic educator who loves teaching mathematics. Ben's patience and genuine passion for the subject enable him to teach math at all levels, including students who struggle with the material. He was asked to tutor students at his school, providing support for individuals of all grades in preparation for their final exams. Ben also started his school's math club, helping students prepare for challenging contests like the Waterloo Canadian Senior Mathematics Contest. With a personal love for mathematics and a desire to pursue it at the University of Waterloo, Ben's dedication to teaching and his own academic journey ensure a top-tier educational experience for your child at the M&M Academy for Young Learners.
In addition to our respective specialties, we share a profound love for both mathematics and music. This common ground has been pivotal in our journey to co-create the M&M Academy for Young Learners. Daniel co-started and runs the school math club with Ben, and Ben, in turn, is an accomplished pianist diligently working towards his Level 9 exam. Both of us are also actively engaged in advanced math coursework, currently taking grade 12 math courses at our school. This dual passion for math and music strengthens our understanding of both fields, ensuring a holistic and enriching educational experience for our students at the M&M Academy.
